Terra Summer Residency in Giverny, France

June 14-August 8, 2011
Application deadline: January 15, 2011

The Terra Foundation for American Art annually offers ten Terra Summer Residency fellowships in Giverny, France, to artists and scholars from the United States and Europe for the independent study of American art and visual culture within a framework of interdisciplinary exchange and dialogue. During the eight-week stay, senior artists and scholars are in residence to mentor the fellows and pursue their own work. Fellowships are awarded to doctoral students researching a subject on American art and visual culture and/or its role in a context of international artistic exchange, and to artists who have completed their studies at the masters level within the past five years. Fellows are selected on the quality of the proposed project, the level of excellence and intellectual rigor or artistic creativity achieved in the applicants previous studies or work, and the applicants ability to engage in a community environment. Applications are by nomination only. For further information, please visit or contact the Terra Summer Residency offices at
