Liberal Arts Chair for Faculty in Non-Western Art History

Moore College of Art & Design invites applications for a full-time, non-western art historian, PhD required, to chair the Liberal Arts Department, which administers undergraduate majors in Art History, Art Education and Curatorial Studies and provides all non-studio courses for the BFA degree.  Seeking an innovative candidate with excellent research skills and a record of publication, in addition to teaching experience introductory and upper level art history and art writing courses. Specific teaching experience required in the examination of western/non-western cultural paradigms with emphasis on the critique of Western modernist constructions of high/low, Self/Other, art/life and/or media studies. Pre-20th c. focus is welcome. Regardless of specialization, the candidate must have a strong commitment to a Liberal Arts pedagogy and strong coherent vision for the disciplines within Liberal Arts including general education. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the latest uses of teaching technologies.

PhD with three years teaching experience in higher education (teaching experience within an art school environment is especially welcome). The successful candidate will also have demonstrable experience as Chair or area head within an academic department. Assume Chair Responsibilities in the fall of 2011 including teaching 6 credits a week in addition to office hours and departmental administration of Chair duties, participation in college and committee service.
