The Museum of Contemporary Art seeks a Coordinator of School Programs to oversee the organization and operation of all school programs within the museum. Duties include overseeing the daily school tour greeting process, answering telephone inquiries for the school program area, ordering supplies, and scheduling all school tours and buses for an average of 11,000 students per year. The Coordinator oversees the scheduling and payment of MCA Artist Guides.

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Education, Fine Arts, or Humanities and Master’s degree preferred. Background in studio art, art education, or art history preferred. Minimum of one year experience with education (preferably in the area of school and teacher programs), program development, project management, budget maintenance, and knowledge of contemporary art required. Experience working with youth, educators, and artists as well as customer service, supervisory and previous teaching experience strongly preferred. Familiarity with museum education practice and learning theory preferably focused on students and teachers. Position requires administrative experience, a professional demeanor, good judgment, and excellent people skills, including effective communication skills both verbal and written. Monday through Friday, 8 to 4 pm; other evenings and weekends as needed to implement programs. Expected start date May 9, 2011.
