This position is responsible for the formulation, organization, and publicity of Department exhibitions. The successful candidate oversees the sourcing of exhibits, designs the layout of the gallery for the shows, processes the loan arrangements and organizes insurance for all works while they are on the premises. The gallery director is also responsible for the design and compilation of the exhibition catalog and in-gallery information about the works. Tasks include maintaining press records, monitoring gallery environment conditions, interacting with visitors, compiling memos, creating requisitions for purchasing related to events, answering telephones and dealing with correspondence. In addition, the position maintains the gallery website with up-to-date materials. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in art history or equivalent arts management credentials. Experience in gallery administration, including publications, public service programs, and exhibition planning.
