Job Description: This is a full time position that oversees all technical aspects of exhibition preparation whether permanent or loan collections, or loans to other institutions.  The registrar is also responsible for all aspects of collection record keeping, condition reporting, inventory, general handling and care of objects including reporting  of conservation related issues, insurance, packing and shipping and computerization of all information relative to objects.  Registrar enforces general safety of collections, collection storages and all technical aspects of collections policies/management. Registrar will enforce collection management plans.  Being the designated ADA representative of the gallery, the registrar must be familiar with the ADA law and train other staff and volunteers about compliance.  The position also includes clerical work, oversees  gift shop, and trains students and additional support personnel under his/her care as needed.  The registrar also performs all other gallery duties assigned by the gallery director.

Qualifications & Requirements:  Qualifications include a BA in Art History, MA in Museum Studies/Management preferred with knowledge and experience of cataloguing, condition reports, insurance, art handling, fine arts packing and shipping, including domestic and international shipping, handling of computerized collection management program, familiarity with ADA law, and computerized data input. A three-year professional work experience in  museum or gallery registration a plus.
