Shippensburg University seeks to fill a full-time, tenure track Art Historian faculty position beginning in August 2012. Primary teaching responsibilities are in Art History and Art Appreciation. The opportunity exists to pursue museum experiences, to teach in the University Honors program and to enhance the appreciation of broad cultures and women’s contributions. Working with university, local, and regional art galleries and art organizations is expected in this position. The candidate will be teaching in a new visual art facility and will be working with art faculty who have a commitment to innovative pedagogy.
A Ph.D. in Art History is required. A demonstration of teaching effectiveness and evidence of a commitment to understanding diverse populations will be required as part of the on-campus interview. All candidates must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. upon appointment, and offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. Three years of college-level teaching experience and a demonstrated promise as a scholar in Art History is highly desired.
