Part-Time Position Search for Fall 2012

Educational attainment: Ph.D. for art history, design history and/or visual culture courses. Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred. Applicants should demonstrate a record of professional scholarly activity.

The candidate must exhibit knowledge of art history and visual culture appropriate to the teaching of both broad surveys and also one or more specialized areas. Part time faculty may teach survey-level
or advanced courses within the context of the B.A./M.A. Art History and Visual Culture program and the school as a whole.

Responsibilities: The School of Art and Design at San Jose State University is searching for part-time Art History and Visual Culture faculty with expertise in any of the following subject areas: history of architecture, design history, Asian art, Latin American art, and Medieval art. Candidates with other specializations will also be considered. General courses taught at SJSU include surveys of Western art, Asian art, design in society, and an introduction to visual culture. Candidates should be professionally active as scholars. Initial screening begins March 22, 2012.
