Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art in Chicago seeks an Executive Director. Intuit is a Chicago-based nonprofit art organizaton that promotes public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of intuitive and outsider art through education, exhibition, collecting and publishing.
Intuit defines intuitive and outsider art as the work of artists who demonstrate little influence from the mainstream art world, and who instead are motivated by their unique personal vision. This definition includes art brut, non-traditional folk art, self-taught art, and visionary art.
The Board of Directors has chosen a path of continued growth. It seeks a Director to partner with them to move Intuit toward additional programs and activities related to the mission. The Executive Director will be responsible for day-to-day management, supervising and inspiring staff, leading development activities, building visibility and support, implementing strategic marketing programs, deepening and refining all aspects of communication, providing creative leadership for all programs, and be both action oriented and entrepreneurial.
Intuit operates with an annual budget of $400,000 and is governed by a 25- member Board of Directors. Current staff includes two full time and four part-time employees. Intuit’s activities are supported by more than 20 interns and volunteers. The Board of Directors seeks candidates who have demonstrated strong fundraising, management, marketing, and donor engagement skills.
Mandatory Job Qualifications
The Board of Directors seeks candidates who have demonstrated strong management, fundraising, marketing, and public relations skills. The ideal candidate should have a track record of success working with volunteers and a Board of Directors.
• Professional career of several years at a non-profit museum, art center or related organization;
• Excellent managerial, planning, organizational and administrative skills;
• Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principals for non profit organizations;
• Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in art, art history, art education, museum studies, or related field
• Demonstrated strength in attracting financial resources;
• Experience in formal presentations and public speaking.
