Lyon College invites applications for a visiting assistant professor of art beginning in August 2012. The position is a one-year appointment and, depending on performance, carries a strong possibility of conversion to tenure-track. MFAs in new media, digital art, or digital/ graphic design OR Ph.D. in art history required. Responsibilities include teaching digital art, digital photography, and all levels of art history. Additional responsibilities will include mentoring students as preparation for their thesis work in senior projects. Prior teaching experience preferred. An understanding of and desire to be at a small, selective liberal arts college is essential. Applicants must have strong professional experience evident in an active exhibition record and/ or current practices in digital art or design, or scholarly publication in art history. The digital studio includes thirteen Macintosh (27″ iMac 11,3) computers equipped with the adobe creative suite, three scanners, three small and one large scale ink jet printers, ten digital SLR cameras, and studio lighting equipment.
