Position Summary:
Working three days a week, the curatorial assistant is responsible for providing programmatic, research and administrative support for the department and reports to the Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning, organization, and implementation of the exhibition program to include research, loan facilitation, and label/wall text development
- Create curatorial content and update the web site, the collection data base, and E-museum
- Manage correspondence and the outgoing loan program
- Assist with updating and maintenance of the archive
- Work with the curatorial team to facilitate committees, interface with Academicians, and implement curatorial projects
Qualifications:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Proven ability to work effectively on multiple projects
- Detail oriented
- Full technological proficiency including knowledge of Photoshop and TMS (The Museum System) desirable
Education and Experience:
- BA in art history, MA ideal
- Knowledge of modern and contemporary art
- One to three years experience in an art museum, gallery, or educational institution
