Position Summary:

Working three days a week, the curatorial assistant is responsible for providing programmatic, research and administrative support for the department and reports to the Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning, organization, and implementation of the exhibition program to include research, loan facilitation, and label/wall text development
  • Create curatorial content and update the web site, the collection data base, and E-museum
  • Manage correspondence and the outgoing loan program
  • Assist with updating and maintenance of the archive
  • Work with the curatorial team to facilitate committees, interface with Academicians, and implement curatorial projects

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to work effectively on multiple projects
  • Detail oriented
  • Full technological proficiency including knowledge of Photoshop and TMS (The Museum System) desirable

Education and Experience:

  • BA in art history, MA ideal
  • Knowledge of modern and contemporary art
  • One to three years experience in an art museum, gallery, or educational institution
