The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College is seeking applicants for the  position of Coordinator of Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will serve as the catalyst in integrating the extensive art collections at Vassar College with the academic curriculum by working with faculty and students across the curriculum in an interdisciplinary fashion. In addition to becoming conversant with the Vassar art collection and curriculum, responsibilities will include encouraging faculty-generated exhibitions utilizing the collections; devising interpretive materials for the collection that draw on the expertise of faculty members in a variety of disciplines; serving as a conduit for broader input regarding collections growth; and team-teaching or contributing to courses in a number of departments. Performs other duties as assigned.

The job requires a highly energetic and collegial individual capable of envisioning possible curricular connections and working smoothly with members of the faculty to implement them.  While the position might suit a recent Ph.D. in art history or a related field, five to seven years of relevant professional or academic experience would also provide useful qualifications.  Previous work experience in a liberal arts college environment will be a valuable asset in doing this work.  Experience working and teaching with a museum collection is desirable.  The successful candidate should also demonstrate scholarly interests and accomplishments; understand recent scholarly methodologies and theoretical concerns with a greater focus on historical studies; or have familiarity with multidisciplinary approaches to learning and a liberal arts curriculum.  Must have the ability to work with diverse groups in a collaborative team setting.
