Job Opening – Vennerberg Professor in Art, Graphic Design, and Art History (11/2012)

POSITION: The Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater invites applications for the position of Department Head and Vennerberg Professor, an endowed professorship, beginning in the 2013 fall semester. Candidates with an area of specialization in one of the departments three areas of emphasis—studio art, graphic design, and art history—are invited to apply.
The successful candidate will have a compelling record of scholarship, teaching, and administrative experience, and will offer expert leadership in the following areas: pursuit of research opportunities, teaching and learning at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and expansion of competitive graduate programs. The successful candidate will teach one course per year; oversee all curricular, budgetary, programming, and personnel matters; and lead the department by enhancing its reputation and visibility in the state and nation through advocacy, outreach, and public relations.
The Department Head reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Candidates must currently hold the rank of either Associate or Full Professor.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT AND OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY: OSU is a comprehensive land-grant institution that is nationally known for its teaching, research, and outreach programs. Approximately 24,000 students are enrolled at the OSU-Stillwater campus and 3,500 at the OSU-Tulsa campus. The Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History has an enrollment of 270 majors taught by approximately 15 tenured/tenure track and 5 adjunct faculty members. Currently, it offers BA degrees in Studio Art and Art History, BFA degrees in Studio Art and Graphic Design, and MA degrees in Art History. Recently established, the MA program is led by motivated faculty committed to the study of global connections and cross-cultural exchange in all periods of art history. Departmental facilities include fully equipped studios for all areas, three Mac labs, a Visual Resource Library, a dynamic gallery, and a substantial permanent art collection.
