<p>The Music Department is an academic department housed in ARTS NC STATE, a unit of the Division of Academic and Student Affairs. Music offers two minors&#8211;a music minor with emphases in Liberal Arts, History, Theory and Composition, and Performance, and an Arts Entrepreneurship minor for students seeking an entrepreneurial career in the arts or art-related industries. Approximately 1800 students are served annually through academic music classes and for-credit performance ensembles.</p>

<p>The Art Institutes International Minnesota, located in downtown Minneapolis, prepares students through quality collegiate programs in the design, media, applied management and culinary arts to pursue a career in a global environment.  We are seeking applicants for an adjunct faculty position to teach art history for the upcoming Winter quarter (January thru March 2013).  Classes may meet day or evening.  Master&#8217;s degree required and post-secondary teaching experience preferred.</p>
<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p>
<p>The part time instructor facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment. S/He provides education through learning-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace. S/He encourages a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning and ethics as well as personal and professional development. This position is part time/adjunct only. Incumbent must assure that the EDMC philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion &#8211; is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.</p>
<p><strong>Key Job Elements</strong></p>
<p>Provides competency-based education which aligns with the EDMC model of curricula as well as supports the EDMC style of system delivery.<br />
Designs and delivers class instruction through the development of instructional plans to meet course competencies, the development of activities which support lesson objectives, and (in the case of online instructors ONLY) delivers the instruction as approved.<br />
Enables the achievement of pre-described exit competencies for student achievement and evaluation of learning by providing instruction which fosters competencies and establish student performance criteria and evaluation.<br />
Delivers learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.<br />
Promotes student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching and students and engaging students in the learning process.<br />

Contributes to a learning culture by participating on curriculum and system task forces, supporting local campus events such as orientation and graduation, and participating in various other workshops and meetings.<br />

<p><strong>Job Requirements</strong></p>
<p>Knowledge:</p>
<p>Master&#8217;s degree in a field related to the classes to be taught.<br />
Zero to two years experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution.<br />
Membership in a professional association tied to area of instruction preferred.</p>
<p>Skills:</p>
<p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.<br />
Outstanding conflict resolution skills.<br />
Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills<br />

<p>POSITION: The Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater invites applications for the position of Department Head and Vennerberg Professor, an endowed professorship, beginning in the 2013 fall semester. Candidates with an area of specialization in one of the departments three areas of emphasis—studio art, graphic design, and art history—are invited to apply.<br />
The successful candidate will have a compelling record of scholarship, teaching, and administrative experience, and will offer expert leadership in the following areas: pursuit of research opportunities, teaching and learning at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and expansion of competitive graduate programs. The successful candidate will teach one course per year; oversee all curricular, budgetary, programming, and personnel matters; and lead the department by enhancing its reputation and visibility in the state and nation through advocacy, outreach, and public relations.</p>
<p>The Department Head reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.</p>
<p>QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Candidates must currently hold the rank of either Associate or Full Professor.</p>
<p>ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT AND OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY: OSU is a comprehensive land-grant institution that is nationally known for its teaching, research, and outreach programs. Approximately 24,000 students are enrolled at the OSU-Stillwater campus and 3,500 at the OSU-Tulsa campus. The Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History has an enrollment of 270 majors taught by approximately 15 tenured/tenure track and 5 adjunct faculty members. Currently, it offers BA degrees in Studio Art and Art History, BFA degrees in Studio Art and Graphic Design, and MA degrees in Art History. Recently established, the MA program is led by motivated faculty committed to the study of global connections and cross-cultural exchange in all periods of art history. Departmental facilities include fully equipped studios for all areas, three Mac labs, a Visual Resource Library, a dynamic gallery, and a substantial permanent art collection. OSU is also in the early stages of building an art museum. <p>The Art and Art History program at Berea College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art History, beginning August 2013, with an interest in cross-cultural artistic interactions. We seek candidates with distinct primary and secondary areas of specialization to teach a wide range of undergraduates, both studio and art history majors and non-majors. Primary or secondary area should cover western art (neither medieval nor modern), and another area in either a distinct chronological era or a non-Western region. Of particular interest are candidates with a specialization in African, Asian, or Native American art. A six-course teaching load encompasses a Survey of Western art, beginner and upper-level period and topical art history courses, and humanities coursework within the College’s General Education Core. Responsibilities of the position include advising students and committee service. Completion of the Ph.D. by August 2013, evidence of quality college teaching, and an active research program are expected.</p>

<p>Art History, Modern and/or Contemporary Art/Arts Management. Penn State Behrend is seeking a tenure-track art historian beginning August 2013. Teaching experience, demonstrated research potential, and significant arts management experience are essential requirements for the position. Duties will include teaching courses in Arts Administration, a new major at Penn State Behrend. Responsibilities will also include teaching the second half of the art history survey and courses in Modern Art/Contemporary Art. The ideal candidate will be able to offer an occasional survey in an area of non-western art. The successful hire will have a leadership role in promoting and expanding the Arts Administration major. A.B.D. required; Ph.D. preferred.</p>
